Chelsea could be set to be dragged into the controversial tapping up saga involving Liverpool for advances made to sign Southampton man Virgil van Dijk.
According to an exclusive report from the Independent today, the Blues are thought to have held detailed discussions with Van Dijk over where he would fit in at the club, just as Liverpool had previously done.
Jurgen Klopp hosted talks with Van Dijk outlining his plans for him at Liverpool for next season, but this was in the absence of permission and knowledge of Southampton. Therefore, the discussions held were illegal and they could result in serious consequences despite Liverpool’s apologies.
It’s claimed in the report that Saints are considering an official complaint to the FA as they look to have Chelsea’s advances investigated, with the Premier League already looking into Liverpool’s move to sign Van Dijk.
Saints are adamant that they will keep hold of their star man beyond this summer.
