Chelsea will have to pay Juventus a minimum of £52m to sign Alex Sandro.
Juventus aren’t keen to lose the 26-year-old, who has emerged as a possible candidate to strengthen the left wing back slot at Stamford Bridge alongside Ryan Bertrand and Benjamin Mendy.
Alex Sandro still has three years on his contract, while another Chelsea target at Juventus, centre half Leonardo Bonucci, has four years remaining.
Chelsea had turned their attentions back to the Italy international after it appeared that Liverpool had won the race to sign Virgil van Dyjk from Southampton.
But after the Merseyside club pulled out on a deal following ‘tapping claims’ – which they subsequently issued an apology to Southampton – Chelsea were once again linked with the Dutchman.
But Standard Sport reported on Thursday that Antonio Conte’s side could still pursue alternate options.
Chelsea are in the market for a centre-back as captain John Terry prepares to leave the club after 22 years at Stamford Bridge.
